A New Westminster man was arrested this weekend after allegedly holding a woman against her will, forcing her to have sex with him, and driving dangerously from Vancouver to Pitt Meadows.

The victim finally escaped her assailant in Pitt Meadows, when she jumped free from an SUV, said Ridge Meadows RCMP Insp. David Fleugel.

"The victim in this incident was severely traumatized by the suspect, who she knows," Fleugel said, noting police commend the woman for coming forward and cooperating with an investigation.

"Suffice to say, she felt her life was in jeopardy during the ordeal," he added.

Emmanuel Alvin Cameron, 34, was later arrested in New Westminster, and appeared in Port Coquitlam provincial court Monday where he faced charges of sexual assault, forcible confinement, assault and dangerous driving.
