Searching for child care for Monday's holiday? The City of New Westminster is offering day camps for elementary school-aged kids on Monday, Sept. 19.

If you were caught scrambling for child care when the B.C. government announced Sept. 19 school closures, the City of New Westminster has your back.

The city's parks and recreation department is offering day camps on Monday, Sept. 19, as Canada observes a national day of mourning to mark the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

Parents of elementary school-aged children can sign up for junior day camp (ages 5.5 to 7) or day camp (ages 8 to 12) at Centennial Community Centre.  (As of the writing of this post, there are still a few spots left for both age groups, but sign up online soon to snag your spot.)

For teens (ages 13 to 18), the New West Youth Centre is also open longer hours Monday, from 1 to 9 p.m., and the Queensborough Community Centre will have youth drop-in from 2 to 5 p.m.
