Tickets are still available for a fundraising dinner that's taking place tonight in support of Homelessness Action Week in New Westminster.

The seventh annual Homelessness Action Week, which is Oct. 10 to 16, includes events providing food and services for those in need.

A fundraising dinner that's taking place on Thursday, Oct. 13 (tonight) features a silent auction, dinner and a presentation by Dr. Bijan Nasiri Manesh, a harm reduction specialist. Tickets are $75 and available by calling Lydia at 604-526-2522.

All proceeds of the fundraiser will stay in New Westminster to help end homelessness. It's being held at the New Lafflines at 530 Columbia St.

Homelessness Action Week wraps up on Friday, Oct. 14 with a movie night at Shiloh-Sixth Avenue United Church at 1111 Sixth Ave. It will feature the movie Dark Days, a documentary about homeless people who live in virtual darkness underground in New York City.

The New Westminster Homelessness Coalition sponsors Homelessness Action Week. The coalition consists of more than 35 members who represent service providers, community-based organizations and all levels of government.
