A New Westminster mystery author is in the spotlight for book-signing events at three Metro Vancouver Indigo stores.

Winona Kent will take her two latest mystery novels, Lost Time and Ticket to Ride, to the signing sessions, where she’ll appear alongside Rick Alexander Jr., with his new crime novel i Hit.

Both authors have longstanding connections to Burnaby. Kent lived in Burnaby for about 30 years before moving to New West in 2018, while Alexander’s day job sees him selling real estate out of a Burnaby office.

Since both are independent authors, the chance to get their work seen by Indigo customers is one they don’t take lightly.

“This is a fabulous chance for me to break into the world of brick-and-mortar bookshops,” Kent noted in an email. “Indie authors always have to compete with better-known, traditionally published writers for space on the bookshelves, and this is a wonderful opportunity.”

The duo will be on hand at Indigo Robson (1033 Robson St., Vancouver) on Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12 from 1 to 3 p.m.; at Indigo Metrotown (Metropolis at Metrotown mall) on Thursday, June 16 from 5 to 8 p.m.; and Indigo Granville (2505 Granville St.) on Sunday, June 19 from 1 to 3 p.m.
