New Westminster police are investigating a break and enter in Connaught Heights.

New West police are seeking the public’s help after an intruder broke into a townhouse in the Connaught Heights neighbourhood.

Police are investigating a break-and-enter that occurred on Sunday, May 5 at about 10 p.m. A resident called the New Westminster Police Department after returning home and hearing someone inside their second-storey bedroom.

According to a NWPD news release, initial information indicates a suspect broke into the townhouse by climbing the exterior of the building.

New Westminster Police Department officers and the Integrated Police Dog Service arrived on scene and searched every room of the townhouse, but it’s believed the suspect fled the area before police arrived.

Officers collected evidence and began interviewing people in the area. Police are now asking the public to assist in the investigation by providing any CCTV or dash-cam footage from the area of Edinburgh Street and 20th Street between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. on May 5.

“We don’t have a description of the suspect, which is why we’re appealing for CCTV and dash-cam footage,” Sgt. Andrew Leaver said in a news release. “Additionally, we want residents to know if you ever feel like something’s not right in your home, don’t hesitate to leave the home, and call 911. We will be there immediately.”

Anyone with information about this incident or video from the time specified can call the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411.
