Bike racks and roof racks have become a target of thieves in Sapperton in recent months.

New Westminster Police are urging Sapperton residents to be vigilant for after receiving reports of several thefts from vehicles around Royal Columbian Hospital since the end of June. Three of the thefts occurred in Royal Columbian Hospital’s underground parking lot and another theft was in the immediate vicinity.

“While all the bike racks were empty at the time of these thefts, we are encouraging all residents to remove their bike racks from their vehicles when they are not in use,” Sgt. Sanjay Kumar said in a news release. “As always, we are encouraging all residents to call 9-1-1 if they hear or see any suspicious activity.”
