Police are warning West End residents to be cautious after a number of break-and-enters in the neighbourhood.

The New Westminster Police Department issued a press release calling for caution, noting that, in the week of July 13, investigators responded to calls of four daytime break-and-enters in the area. The release called the number “concerning.”

In each of the break-and-enters, windows or door windows were smashed, and the thief or thieves targeted small electronics.

Police say the incidents occurred in the area between Seventh and 10th avenues, from 12th to 18th streets.

“We are encouraging residents to call 9-1-1 immediately if they hear or see any suspicious activity,” said Staff Sgt. Stu Jette. “Now is a good time to revisit your home security to see if there are any steps you can take to deter thieves, and please keep money and valuables out of sight from easily accessible windows.”

Anyone with information about the incidents or who can help to identify a suspect is asked to call police at 604-525-5411.
