Memo to would-be thieves: Police officers don’t much like it when you steal from front-line health-care workers.
The New Westminster Police Department is investigating a theft at Royal Columbian Hospital.
On Tuesday, April 14 at about 2:45 a.m., police officers were called to the hospital for a report of a theft, Sgt. Jeff Scott reported in an email to the Record.
The suspect, a 25- to 30-year-old woman, entered the hospital, put on scrubs and then reportedly broke into a staff member’s locker and stole cash and credit cards before fleeing.
“We are working hard at locating the suspect to bring her before the courts,” Scott said in the email.
“It’s disheartening to know that someone would allegedly steal from front-line health-care workers. They are working extremely hard during the COVID-19 pandemic and are putting their own health at risk to serve others. We are grateful for our health-care workers, and as a police agency we want to help ensure that their property is safe while they serve our community in this vital way.”
