Members of the New Westminster Police Department's Forensic Investigation Section are processing a scene at Westminster Pier Park, where an incident was reported overnight.

The New Westminster Police Department believes there may be cell phone footage of a fight in which a group of teenagers ganged up on one other teenager last Friday morning.

Investigators are still seeking evidence, including video and witnesses, of a fight that left one man in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe the fight began as a fight between two youths, before a group of teenagers ganged up one one of them. The NWPD received the call to the fight in Pier Park, in the 400 block of Front Street, at around 12:15 a.m.

After an initial investigation, NWPD spokesperson Sgt. Jeff Scott said police believe several people recorded the fight on their phones.

“Our detectives are actively investigating all leads, and it is important that anyone with video evidence or with information come forward,” NWPD spokesperson Sgt. Jeff Scott said in a statement.

Scott said last Friday that the victim was in stable condition following the incident.
