The New West Greens are inviting community members to join a conversation about the three Rs.
The presentation, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle: In That Order, is taking place on Tuesday, Nov. 26 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Carpentry Shop, 245 Francis Way in the Victoria Hill neighbourhood. Parking is limited, so people are encouraged to walk, bike, take transit or carpool.
“Everyone is familiar with the three Rs, but few appreciate that the order is also critical, that we should first think about reducing our consumption, and our impact, and then finding ways to reuse, and then finally recycle,” said a press release about the event. “The New West Greens want to bring attention to this important conversation by bringing together experts on each of the three Rs.”
Speakers at the Nov. 26 event include: Linh Truong, of the Soap Dispensary, who will speak to the importance of reducing waste by finding creative ways to reduce waste products; Adam Corneil, of the Unbuilders, who will share how housing deconstruction materials can have a second life; and John Kendler, of Urban Impact Recycling, who will speak about the recycling process and things people can do to be a good recycler. Jessica Brown, owner of the newly opened local business, The Refill Stop, is the special guest.
