New West 'Furbaby food bank' feeds hungry pets during pandemic

In recent weeks, the demand for our food banks has jumped a significant 20% according to Food Banks Canada CEO Chris Hatch.

In a recent report, Food Banks of Canada says that 65% of Canadians believe that hunger will become a serious problem because of COVID-19. 

Despite a reduction in some restrictions, many people who are feeling the repercussions of job loss or are living on reduced hours are finding it hard to make ends meet and put food on the table.

On Saturday, May 30th and Sunday, May 31st, Thank DOG I Am Outand Wesgroup Propertiesare hosting the Furbaby Food Bankto provide free dog and cat food to those in need. 

“We have food banks for a reason, especially in times such as these when many individuals and families thought they would never have to rely on food banks but are finding themselves waiting in line for assistance,” said a news release.“That is why Susan Patterson, Founder of Thank DOG I Am Out has made it her goal to help those who are stuck in unfamiliar and challenging situations.”

The New Westminster event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both days at 228 Nelson Ct. in the ground flood amenity lounge.
