As part of National Nursing Week, and to show thanks to everyone at Royal Columbian Hospital for their work during the pandemic, doctors bought 1,600 pizzas for staff on Friday.

It’s really an idea that grew over a couple of days this week to show appreciation to staff for all their efforts since the start of the pandemic. Doctors from throughout the hospital have contributed to pay for this. The local T-Eleven also chipped in with 1,000 bags of chips and 1,000 bottles of water.

The RCH Foundation stepped in to help coordinate the mass deliveries of pizzas.

This week also (Monday through Friday), nurses in the Intensive Care Unit have been paying for pizzas for housekeepers to show their appreciation for their hard work.

“There’s generally a desire within the hospital to find ways to show support for each other right now, and that focus has been heightened these last several weeks as the pandemic’s latest wave has put a strain on many,” said a news release.
