With its pledge to put out some "masterful" pies, a new pizza spot has just opened up for business in New Westminster.
L'Onore Pizza is the venture of owner Abhiyan Rajhans, and takes its name from the Italian word for "honour."
Using scratch-made dough that's topped with locally-sourced as well as imported Italian ingredients, L'Onore plans to "honour" the tradition of pizza-making with its "memorable, masterfully-made sourdough pizzas," according to the restaurant's opening announcement.
Located at 110-28 East Royal Avenue in New West's Victoria Hill, L'Onore Pizza is currently offering take-out and patio dining.
On the menu at L'Onore are starters like "pizza fritta," which is fried pizza dough with a variety of toppings, including meat, veggie, and plant-based. The restaurant is also veering away from Italy with its Lambada Pide, a Turkish-style pizza made with lamb mince meat, red onions, parsley, fresh lemon, and labneh.
In addition to salads and small plates like pork meatballs and chicken wings, L'Onore has over a dozen pizzas on its menu, as well as the option to add on ingredients of your own choosing - though they suggest only putting one more on "to ensure [the] integrity of [the] pizza."
Look for pizza options like the Cacio e Pepe, inspired by the pasta dish, or the fiery Diavola, with sausage, peppers, Calabrian chilis, hot honey, and onion jam. There are several cheese-centric pies, and also a vegan pizza. Further, L'Onore indicates most of the vegetarian pizzas on the menu can be served as vegan, as well as that they can make a limited number of gluten-free pizzas on a given day.
The interior of L'Onore - which diners can't experience just yet, due to current provincial restrictions on indoor dining - boasts an open kitchen concept, so diners can see the massive stone oven that was imported from Italy and carried by crane into the space.
Currently, L'Onore is open Monday to Sunday from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m.
