There will be a fresh face at the Royal City Farmers Market.

Jodi Appleton is the market's new operations manager. She is taking over for Jen Arbo, who recently announced that she would be moving on.

"I'm very excited to be taking on the operations manager position for the Royal City Farmers Market over the 2012 summer season," Appleton said in a media release.

She brings to the market years of administrative and program management experience, her love for running special events and her passion for gardening and community building, the release states.

"Jodi is a really great addition to the RCFM team. I'm really looking forward to working with her," Arbo said in the release. "She has all the skills to seamlessly take over from me, and I have every confidence she will do as good or better job than I. I can't wait to see what she brings to the market. This is such an exciting season for RCFM."

The market will be returning to Tipperary Park on June 7 (to Oct. 4) on Thursdays, from 3 to 7 p.m. To reach Appleton, email her at assistant [email protected].

Spring renewal

The Downtown New Westminster Business Improvement Area (BIA) took on a spring renewal project recently.

The BIA launched a new website for its members and residents to be able to keep on top of the various downtown happenings. The BIA represents the interests of more than 150 property owners and 500 businesses located from the waterfront up to Royal Avenue, and from the Pattullo Bridge to 10th Street.

Changing faces

The Crab Shop at the River Market is under new management. The North Vancouver team that opened the seafood store just a few months ago is no longer managing the fishand-chip spot.

The Crab Shop has been a fixture on the North Shore since the 1960s and branched out to New West last year selling lunch dishes and fresh seafood.

Those wanting to eat fish on the waterfront will still have the chance this summer at the new Crab Shop, said River Market manager Mark Shieh, who didn't want to announce the new owners just yet.

New guide

One Source Productions, a local business providing printing, signage and corporate branding is introducing a new publication in New Westminster.

Editor Michael Wierzbicki announced the guide recently, which will be known as the "New Wester."

The publication promises to highlight New Westminster businesses and will be divided into five sections representing the geographic areas of Sapperton, downtown, uptown, the West End and Queensborough.

Wierzbicki has had a directory for the city on his mind for some time and is working with John Ashdown, founder and past president of the West End Business Association.
