The woman who went missing for nearly a week with her 14-month-old son has been found safe by police.

The New Westminster Police Department confirmed Kimberly Armstrong and her son were found late Wednesday in Mission.

No criminal charges are being considered in the case.

“This was a perfect example of the excellent collaboration that exists between municipal police departments and the public. Furthermore, we’d like to thank local news media for their assistance in the search,” Acting Sgt. Jeff Scott said in a statement. “We’re thankful for this positive outcome, and that Ms. Armstrong and her son have been found.”

Police had been looking for Kimberly Armstrong since she was dropped off alone in New Westminster on Aug. 4 at 7:30 a.m.

Police said when she didn’t return to her home in Maple Ridge, a friend became concerned and filed a missing person’s report. However, Armstrong returned to her residence in Maple Ridge, but left shortly after with her 14-month-old son before police could speak to her.

On Tuesday, the department said its major crime unit is working with Mission and Maple Ridge RCMP, along with Ministry of Child and Family Services to find Armstrong and her son to determine their well-being.

Scott noted the woman had no ties to New West other than being dropped off in the city before she went missing.
