Jim Goring, 59, is seeking a third term as a New Westminster school trustee after previously serving between 1996 and 1999 and from 2008 to present day.
Goring and his wife have lived in New Westminster since 1989, with their daughter having graduated from NWSS and son currently in Grade 12 at NWSS.
Goring is past president of the Glenbrooke North Residents' Association and a past board member of the Massey Theatre Society.
Goring said he has several goals if reelected.
"With the work on the preparation for the capital project done, the Auditor General has advised we must pay attention to the task of governance," said Goring. "The next three years will be exciting as we build new schools, but will also be subject to risk and may require difficult decisions.
"We can draw on the educational leadership from our teachers and senior management.
"We need a diverse set of business skills on the board to bring accountability, leadership, integrity, stewardship and transparency to our decisions.
"I am currently a senior vice-president, technology risk for a global risk management consultant. I have the business background and risk management training to bring this important perspective to the table."
Goring is one of five school trustee candidates being endorsed by Voice New Westminster.
