Long-time New Westminster resident Glen Richmond has thrown his hat into the school trustees' race.

Richmond said he "has a sincere desire to champion the delivery of quality of education within the school district" and brings a wealth of worldly experience with him.

Richmond served as a New Westminster police officer for 16 years and worked as a school liaison officer, as well as on crime-free initiatives. Richmond is currently employed with the Vancouver Police Department, where his duties with the senior management team have reduced false alarms by 61 per cent, with annual savings of more than $640,000.

Richmond also holds a part-time position with the Department of National Defence, where he oversees the professional development of reservists across Western Canada.

Richmond is a past-president of the Hyack Festival Association (2009) and has worked with the board of directors since 2005.

Richmond's formal education includes studies from criminology/psychology at Douglas College and SFU, and international business in Grenoble, France. Richmond is scheduled to finish his MBA at Royal Roads University this December.

"I will bring to the school board organizational and problem-solving skills, extensive team-building experience, strategic-thinking and a work-ethic that gets the job done," said Richmond.
