"The program and the teachers were spectacular," said McEachern-Keen, who got her commerce and law degree from UBC and has been a practicing lawyer for more than 20 years. She is also very involved in the community.

"I have been involved in the community as president of my Rotary Club, treasurer of Queen's Park Preschool and director of Massey Theatre," said McEachern-Keen. "I have been a director of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners and an advisor to the Vancouver Foundation."

McEachern-Keen said she brings valuable experience to the board if elected.

"As a lawyer practising law for more than 20 years," said McEachern-Keen, "I have the training and experience to improve corporate governance. I believe the board of trustees' role is to seek input from all stakeholders, develop policy, communicate it clearly and then step aside and let teachers do what they do best - inspire our children.

"The role of the board is to allocate resources effectively to create a culture where teachers love to teach and children love to learn."

McEachern-Keen is one of five school trustee candidates endorsed by Voice New Westminster.
