Mattress company provides comfy beds for stressed-out New West medical staff

An estimated 41% of medical staff in hospitals suffered from anxiety and depression at the height of the pandemic, according to a survey from UBC.

That is a 10% increase from last year, and even as the pandemic slows down, there is continuing strain from catching up on postponed care.

So when a staff member from New Westminster’s Royal Columbian Hospital reached out to Canadian mattress brand Endy about the exhaustion their staff were working through, Endy outfitted their on-call room with new, quality mattresses to help their workers get a better rest between shifts.

When Rosa-Lea Millard, Manager of Clinical Operations at Royal Columbian Hospital, reached out, she noted, “It is so important for our on-call staff to get some decent rest and having a comfortable mattress would definitely help! Our nurses have reached a point of exhaustion and tears while caring for acutely ill patients. Even through the tears, their courage and commitment to come to work each day amazes me! I appreciate them very much and wish to show how much we as a community care for them too.”

Endy is a Canadian sleep company best known for their Endy mattress - designed, manufactured, and delivered exclusively in Canada. Their national Healthcare Heroes Giving campaign allows Canadians to nominate their local hospitals for on-call room transformations with Canadian-made Endy mattresses at endy.com/donations, helping doctors and nurses in every community. To date, they have transformed 200 on-call rooms across Canada.
