The Massey Theatre Society is putting out a call for members to join its volunteer board of directors.
The Massey Theatre, at 735 Eighth Ave. in New Westminster, is operated by a non-profit charitable society that works to maintain, upgrade and operate the facility.
Serving the Lower Mainland since 1949, the theatre hosts hundreds of shows each year, including Broadway touring companies, popular international artists, dance performances, symphony concerts and musical theatre productions by the renowned Royal City Musical Theatre Company.
Ideal candidates for the board of directors are "hardworking and skilled individuals," according to a press release from the society.
Those with one or more of the following characteristics are especially encouraged to apply: a passion for the arts, experience with networking, an interest in or understanding of community development, marketing, communications, public relations, urban planning or design, or experience with architecture, business planning, finance or capital fundraising.
The society also oversees operation of the Plaskett Gallery inside the theatre building, which provides exhibitions of regional visual artists; as well as the Massey Ticket Centre, offering professional community ticketing service.
