A sold-out crowd at the Marriot Vancouver Pinnacle was on hand last Thursday to see the Maria Keary Cottage, a 35-bed supportive housing facility located at 305 Carnarvon St., win the top hon-our in the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver second annual Commercial Building Awards.

The cottage won the Judges' Choice Award and added the Excellence Award in the community facility's category for owner, Westcoast Genesis Society; architect, Pattison Architecture; and general contractor, Colter Developments.

"This event is about celebrating innovation, talent and the spirit of collaboration in our building community," Rosario Setticasi, president of the board, said in a press release. "These awards are a salute to professionals committed to meeting the needs of today without sacrificing those of future generations."

The Dockyards at Port Royal, 200-202 Salter St., also won a merit award in the rentals/affordable housing category.
