A man suffered serious injuries during an attack in downtown New Westminster Wednesday night.
Officers were called to the 800 block of Agnes Street around 11:50 p.m. following a report of an assault with a weapon. The victim had suffered serious injuries and was being treated by paramedics when police arrived, according to a press release from the New Westminster Police Department.
The victim was taken to hospital for further treatment. He is in stable condition, according to police.
Shortly after the call, officers located the suspect a few blocks from the scene. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Investigators are in the early stages of figuring out what led to the attack and are looking for video surveillance from the area, according to the release.
