Letter: Why do New West-Burnaby intersections bring out the worst in drivers?

A letter writer believes local motorists should be more careful as both cities are becoming more "congested."

The Editor:

I'm not sure what it is about our intersections on the Burnaby/New Westminster border, but it seems to bring out the most reckless and impatient driving habits.

I am frequently reminded of this when I am trying to turn left in the morning in a blind spot from 10th Avenue onto Eighth Street, by the old high school.

I'm a bit confused by the drivers who will still barrel through the yellow/red light at the last millisecond when they have absolutely no vision to see if there is a car about to turn in their path.

This would seem an especially logical place to slow down, as a collision would be much catastrophic than a late arrival to work.

I have learned to anticipate these selfish drivers and wait until the light is basically red to turn.

Hopefully we can all be increasingly careful in our increasingly congested city and arteries.
