Letter: Releasing an 'edited' New West council video a 'puzzling' move

How should taxpayers perceive this situation considering New Westminster also decided not to seek other cities' advice on property taxes, this letter writer asks.

Re: 'Extra due diligence' required before New West posts council video online (March 8, 2024)

Your recent article regarding our city’s need to seek advice regarding the editing of a recording of a council meeting is both informative and puzzling.

I find it interesting that the city needs advice on how to edit a recording, let alone why they feel the need to edit a report to the voters.

But, what I find puzzling is that; these are the same people that only a few weeks ago decided they didn’t need any advice from other municipalities on how to keep property tax increases to a minimum.

What should my fellow taxpayers and I deduce from this: that fine-tuning what we are told is more important than ensuring our tax increases are kept to a minimum?

Just askin'.
