Re: Columbia Square Plaza proponent to begin public consultation in June (May 28, 2024)
As a 25-year-and-counting resident of our beautiful city, I must voice my opinion regarding all the “residential towers” being built.
I have gone from owning and renovating a 1911 home in Sapperton to now living in a condo on the edge of downtown, which I love.
I’m a firm believer of progress, but holy cow, there has been constant construction noise and pounding, year after year after year in the downtown core.
Not to mention living through the new Pattulo Bridge construction.
Now, to learn that Columbia Square is slated for six to eight more towers... what?
This almost makes me want to put my hands up and cry.
I do not know if I can take the constant pounding, screeching, truck engines, back up signals, road closures, etc., that comes with the construction of these towers.
I don’t think it’s fair that we have to live with these very disturbing annoyances day in and day out, year after year.
We all deserve some peace and quiet in our homes.
I don’t know if I could live through another 10 years of constant construction noise in my community.
Can we please get a break every once and awhile?
Please keep this in mind as you plan the future of New Westminster.
