Bags of garbage dumped in Queensbourough.

Editor:

I am quite sad that the city of New Westminster has neglected the Queensborough corridor for the last two years.

There were no major improvements seen in our area, except city permits for more buildings to bring revenues to their advantage.

We have recently seen the dumping of garbage in the dike area by irresponsible residents. The dike area is vulnerable and is indeed a salmon habitat and a congregation area for wild ducks.

The area concerned runs from Carter and Ewen Avenue and has been ignored and left in darkness without any lights running to Carter. This area is very much used by young kids and teenagers to enter Ryall Park.

(You can) see the pictures of the garbage dumped into the dike, and the city has not attended to pick them up for the last few days.

I hope the city of New Westminster takes immediate measures to put visible signs that dumping garbage would result in a fine.
