The provincial election campaign doesn't officially begin for another month, but New Westminster Environmental Partners is getting a jump on the action this weekend. The local group is holding a citizens' forum on B.C.

The provincial election campaign doesn't officially begin for another month, but New Westminster Environmental Partners is getting a jump on the action this weekend.

The local group is holding a citizens' forum on B.C. environmental issues on Saturday, March 9 from 1 to 3: 30 p.m. at the Sapperton Pensioners Hall at 318 Keary St. Energy, climate change and food security will be among the topics covered at the event.

Several candidates have confirmed they will be attending the event: Hector Bremner (B.C. Liberals); Judy Darcy (NDP); Paul Forseth (B.C. Conservatives); and Terry Teather (Green Party of B.C.).

According to the group's website, facilitators will keep discussions moving and a supervised activity area will be available for kids. For more information, visit www.nwep.ca.

Two more all-candidates gatherings have been announced in the lead-up to the May 14 provincial election.

The Queen's Park Residents Association will be hosting an all-candidates meeting on Sunday, April 28 at 2 p.m. at Centennial Lodge in Queen's Park. The district parent advisory council will be holding an all-candidates meeting with a focus on education on Thursday, April 25 in the library at New Westminster Secondary School.
