A life-sized board game at Fraser River Discovery Centre will explore the Mighty Fraser.

A life-size board game night is just one of the offerings at Fraser River Discovery Centre during spring break.

Spring Discovery Days at Fraser River Discovery Centre runs until April 1. Throughout spring break, self-guided activities are located throughout the building, a facilitated activity is offered from 10 a.m. to noon, and storytime runs from 1 to 3 p.m.

Because most salmon species hatch during spring, Spring Discovery Days’ activities and games will follow the salmon life cycle.

Visitors can follow the salmon’s life cycle at stations throughout the building to get to know these famous fish and the many challenges they face throughout their lives. Folks are invited to visit all the stations and submit their “fish-port” to be entered to win a salmon-themed prize pack.

“Spring is an important season for salmon,” said Karen Lee, executive director of the FRDC. “Many salmon species hatch during springtime and then they have a treacherous journey to adulthood. Visitors will follow the salmon life cycle and see the many ways these incredible fish change during their lifetimes.”

In addition to Spring Discovery Days, Fraser River Discovery Centre is planning a special jumbo board game night on Saturday, March 23.

“Play through a life-sized board game to get introduced to the longest river in B.C. with family-friendly activities and challenges,” said a FRDC news release. “All you need to bring is your group of two to six team members and your curiosity; we will provide light snacks and tricky trivia.”

Everyone is welcome to participate in this event, but it is aimed at groups with children six to 12 years of age. Each group must include at least one adult.

To pre-register or get information about the jumbo board game event and registration costs, visit Fraser River Discovery Centre’s website.

During spring break, the Fraser River Discovery Centre is open daily (until April 1) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More Details about Spring Discovery Days are available online.
