Lane closures are coming to local streets as part of work on the Pattullo Bridge replacement project.

Some roads around the Pattullo Bridge will be closed one to three nights this week – depending how the work goes.

Fraser Crossing Partners, the company building the Pattullo Bridge replacement project, will be conducting some underground utility work on the Royal Avenue on-ramp and on McBride Boulevard between Royal Avenue and Columbia Street. This work is being done on the evenings of Wednesday, May 31, Thursday, June 1, and Friday, June 2 between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., but all three nights may not be required.

“To complete this work, the Royal Avenue on-ramp will be temporarily closed for approximately three hours between 8 and 11 p.m. on each night,” said a notice from the project. “Drivers will be directed to use the Columbia Street loop-ramp via McBride Boulevard to access the Pattullo Bridge.”

One southbound lane on McBride Boulevard will also be temporarily closed between 7 p.m. and midnight on each night; one lane will be maintained at all times.

“Drivers may experience temporary delays resulting from the detour,” said the notice. “We appreciate your patience while this work is underway.”

According to the notice, sawcutting and hydrovaccing activities will take place between 7 and 10 p.m. each night. The notice states that nearby residents may hear some noise from these activities.

“Some saw-cutting and hydrovaccing will be required and will be undertaken as soon as each closure is implemented to minimize local noise impacts,” said the notice. “Short periods of noise are expected.”
