Newcomers Jonina Campbell and David Phelan topped the polls Saturday night as the four New Westminster District and Labour-endorsed candidates took four of seven seats on school board.
Incumbents Michael Ewen and James Janzen also got back in with the fourth and fifth highest vote totals.
"It's all a little unreal right now," said a jubilant Campbell. "I'm very excited. I worked very hard for this and I don't think I can explain what happened tonight."
Campbell, a Richmond school teacher, watched the polls come in with council candidate Jonathan Cote, who topped his race with 6,481 votes.
The only incumbent to lose was Voice New Westminster's Jim Goring, who came eighth, just behind his Voice counterpart, MaryAnn Mortensen, who got the final spot by 185 votes.
Also winning re-election were Voice incumbents Casey Cook and Lisa Graham, who finished third and sixth respectively in the polls.
Campbell topped the polls with 5,875 votes, with Phelan coming in at 5,603.
The previous school board consisted of three labour endorsed candidates, three Voice New Westminster candidates and independent Brent Atkinson.
