The Keg in downtown New Westminster is closed for an undetermined amount of time while the company evaluates the building.
Keg spokesperson Karyn Byrne said the company doesn't have a "definitive" plan for the heritage building, which was built as a train station by the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1899. The Keg has operated in the building, which it leases, since 1973.
"The location is closed until we can get a better determination how long it will take to address any potential (structural) issues," Byrne said. "At this point, we have no further information because we have to get in and evaluate the full extent of the repairs. That's all we know at this point.
"We do not have any definitive issue, however, we needed to cease operations in order to evaluate them properly," Byrne said. "Until we can get in and evaluate what the repairs are required, we are not sure."
The restaurant has managed to relocate a number of the staff to some of the chain's other restaurants, Byrne said.
