Music, sports and free cake are all on this weekend's menu in the Royal City. We're continuing with our popular feature, The Record's Top Five (or More) Things to Do this weekend. Here are our staff's suggestions for the Feb. 1 to 3 weekend.

1 Enjoy the blues and drop by the Sunday Blues Revue that's now taking place at the Columbia from 5 to 9 p.m. Starting Sunday, Feb. 3, the event will take place every Sunday night at 530 Columbia St.

There's no cover charge for this event that includes a full-service bar and food menu, and a great dance floor.

Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy listening and dancing to some of Vancouver's top blues artists in this vintage show lounge.

This week's show features Indigo and guest performers.

For more information about the Sunday Blues Revue and other upcoming events at the Columbia call 604-522-4500 or visit www. thecolumbia.ca.

2 Build robotic animals with Lego at the Bricks 4Kidz's one-hour classes at River Market. The classes that are being held on Saturdays from Feb. 2 to March 7 will focus on building moving animals using Lego robotics technology - such as slithering snakes and hopping frogs.

For folks wanting to attend all six sessions, the cost is $84, with each class building on the skills from previous classes.

A limited number of drop-ins are available for single classes at a cost of $15. For more information and registration, visit www.brick s4kidz.com.

3 Celebrate the fifth anniversary of Bella Cakes and Pastries in Sapperton by enjoying a free slice of yummy cake.

The birthday festivities take place on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 459 East Columbia St.

4 Check out the UNIBUG (user network for insect biology in the urban garden) initiative at the Amelia Douglas Gallery at Douglas College.

The project includes photographs of the Institute of Urban Ecology's UNIBUG initiative by Mikki Herbold, as well as paintings in Ewan McNeil's Supermodels series.

The exhibit runs until Feb. 13 and is open during gallery hours: Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 7: 30 p.m.

More information is available at www.douglas.bc.ca/visitors/artgallery.html.

The gallery is located on the fourth floor of Douglas College (700 Royal Ave.), next to the Laura C. Muir Performing Arts Theatre.

5 Head out to one of the local watering holes and soak up the ambiance of Superbowl Sunday, when the Baltimore Ravens take on the San Francisco 49ers. There are lots of local pubs around town where you can join friends and cheer on your chosen team.
