Keep resolutions with the library

What's your resolution? Lose weight, get fit, or learn something new? We are always trying to improve ourselves and, while it's important to work on this any time, most of us make a push at the beginning of the New Year.

What's your resolution? Lose weight, get fit, or learn something new?

We are always trying to improve ourselves and, while it's important to work on this any time, most of us make a push at the beginning of the New Year.

If you need inspiration for or help with sustaining your resolutions, make your first resolution a stop at the New Westminster Public Library.

The library can help you find information on many subjects either in books, magazines or DVDs or through our Internet resources.

Starting a fitness or weight loss program? The books on nutrition, dieting, and exercise can get you off on the right foot.

Or try some non-diets: Swap and Drop: The New Canadian No Diet Revolution or Jennifer Tuma Young's Balance Your Life, Balance the Scales.

In addition, DVDs such as Discover Bellydance: Fitness for Weight Loss can get you moving without leaving your home.

If your resolution is to learn something new, stop by for information on history, sports, crafts, cooking, photography, painting, and computers, to name a few subjects.

The library also offers a wide range of information programs. Take a look in the events brochure or on our website under Events and Programmes.

In January, you can learn about eReaders and how to download free ebooks, emagazines and audiobooks from the library on Jan. 17 at 7 p.m.

Or try your hand at batik-making at a workshop on Jan. 19 at 1 p.m.

Do you like to read and discuss books? The library's Read with Us Book Club will discuss the award winning Behind the Scenes at the Museum by Kate Atkinson on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m.

Please pre-register for these programs at 604-527-4667. If you resolve to travel more, guide books and DVDs on different countries will help you find out what to see and where. To pique your interest, the library's monthly travel shows are visiting Kyrgyzstan in February and Spain in March.
