New Westminster police believe a local man accused of sexual assault may have other victims that have not come forward yet.

The 52-year-old resident appeared in court on March 20, where he was charged with one count of sexual assault, according to a press release from New Westminster police.

The victim alleges they were sexually assaulted by the accused, Fred William Bilawey, after responding to a job posting on Craiglists for a waitress/bartender position at a local bar.

Police are releasing Bilawey’s photo as investigators believe there are more victims who haven’t spoken to police.

“We have released a photograph of the accused, Bilawey, because we believe that there are other victims and witnesses who have information that may further the police investigation,” said Sgt. Diana McDaniel, spokesperson for the department.

“We encourage anyone who has been a victim of these sexual assaults or has any other information relating to these crimes to please contact Det. Const. Miszkurka at 604-529-2435 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.”

Bilawey will be back in court on May 5.
