Transit Police arrested a 48-year-old man for alleged indecent exposure and breach of probation earlier this week.

Officers spotted the man just before 6 p.m. on Aug. 13 as they were heading out for a patrol near the Sapperton Sky Train station. The two officers noticed the man lying on a grass field next to a daycare centre in the 200-block of Nelson's Court. "The man had his pants down around his knees and was committing a sexual act with a vibrator," stated a media release. "Fortunately, the day care centre was closed and there were no children in the area."

As the officers approached they noticed a "number of tools" in a backpack. Upon searching the man's backpack, officers found a "quantity of crystal meth and marijuana."

According to the release, the officers determined the man was in breach of his probation. He was arrested and charged.

David Paul Mathon has been charged with committing an indecent act and breach of probation.

He has been released from custody on conditions that he doesn't come within 100 metres of a daycare, park, swimming pool or any other area where children may be; he doesn't remove any clothing covering "his pelvic area" unless in a private place; and he is restricted from a portion of New Westminster's Sapperton neighbourhood, bounded by Richmond, Sherbrooke and Cumberland streets and Brunette Avenue.
