Homecoming returns to Mercer Stadium on Friday, Sept. 15.

Football under the lights at Mercer Stadium is just one of the attractions of Homecoming 2023.

Community members are invited to attend Hyacks Homecoming at Mercer Stadium on Friday, Sept. 15.

Gates open at 5 p.m., with the official ceremony at 7:15 p.m. and kickoff at 7:35 p.m. The Hyacks will be playing the Abbotsford Panthers.

The pre-game fun includes a family fun zone, which includes a bouncy castle, a petting zoo and a clown.

Representatives from the New Westminster Police Department and New Westminster Fire and Rescue Services will bring vehicles and provide a community outreach kids’ activity.

The All Decade Team, which is the Hyack All Star Team from its second decade (2013 to 2022), will attend.

“This is our 20th anniversary season,” noted Andrew McKechnie, the team’s co-head coach.

Skydivers are scheduled to deliver the game ball at 7:30 pm.

“Hyack homecoming is a fun-filled family event,” McKechnie said. “For our 20th anniversary, we are honouring the best players form the last decade, other members of the Hyack family and the amazing community connection that we have with New Westminster. And, of course, the game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. against Abbotsford.”
