There's been a major spike at the New Westminster gas pumps for the first official weekend of summer.
The biggest uptick was six cents in the last week — from $1.74 to $1.80 per litre — at the Centex and GOMarket on Ewen Avenue, which is the cheapest available in the city as of this publication, June 21 (see list below).
GasBuddy.com says the most expensive fuel is currently $1.88 per litre at the Columbia Street Chevron, which was an increase of five cents.
Metro Vancouver's lowest number sits at $1.71 per litre at the Super Save Gas off 200 Street in Langley. New West's low is outside the region's top 10 most affordable prices.
New West's weekly average price for gas has gone up five cents in the last week to $1.86 per litre.
B.C.'s most affordable price for fuel hasn't changed in the last seven days — $1.53 per litre at the Central Avenue Super Save Gas in Grand Forks.
The cheapest price within driving distance of New Westminster is $1.64 per litre at the Centex and GOMarket in Dewdney just outside of Mission — more than 60 km east on Lougheed Highway.
