The clocks are moving up this weekend — and so are New Westminster gas prices.
But one local outlet did drop by a single cent to offer, what is currently, the cheapest price for fuel in all of Metro Vancouver.
The Centex and GOMarket on Ewen Avenue is posting $1.83 per litre, as of this publication, March 8, compared to $1.84 from last week.
The rest of the New West gas stations saw average increases between two and five cents, per GasBuddy.com's latest report (see list below).
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, recently told Glacier Media while he can't provide predictions on the "micro-timing of gas price increases in Canada," costs are going to climb.
He noted that refinery maintenance typically happens during "shoulder seasons" and can slow down production.
"Broadly, we believe that gas prices are beginning their seasonal rise as refinery maintenance and the transition to summer gasoline come into play."
The largest known uptick in New West gas prices was seven cents — $1.93 from $1.86 per litre at the Chevron on Columbia Street.
The average price for fuel in the city is currently $1.90 per litre — up three cents from $1.87 last Friday, March 1.
Meanwhile, the most affordable gas prices in B.C. can be found in the north central and Okanagan regions.
Salmon Arm's Super Save Gas (50 3rd St. NW) is selling fuel for $1.55 per litre — located nearly 450 km northeast of New Westminster.
