Dear Editor:
For Prime Minister (Stephen) Harper to say that science, not politics, will decide the Enbridge northern pipeline's fate could not be further from the truth.
Who does he think he is deceiving? Anyone who is awake knows it is nothing more than politics - the politics that support the Alberta tar sands and big oil.
Under Bill C-38, he has shifted the final say from the National Energy Board and the scientific research involved to the cabinet. Is that not political?
This is the same guy who says caring for nature is a barrier to economic prosperity. Whose prosperity? Big oil.
Under Bill C-38, he has gutted the Canadian Environment Assessment Act, the Fisheries Act, Species at Risk Act, the National Round Table on Environment and the Economy Act, the Kyoto Implementation Act and with these acts, the scientists and the work they did under those Acts.
No politician in the history of this country has done so much to work against the interests of Canadians by destroying resource protection and environmental stewardship.
