An "anomaly" that led to sometimes wildly off-mark results posted for Grade 12 exams has now been fixed, the New Westminster School District says.
In a statement posted to its website, the district said the technical issue that affected tabulation of the exam results has likely been solved, and fixed exam results will be posted online today. The district added that all secondary schools have been notified, and the B.C. Ministry of Education also reached out to B.C. postsecondary schools “to help ensure no student applications are impacted.”
“In addition, the Ministry is actively contacting Canadian post-secondary institutions and outside post-secondary institutions, as needed,” the district statement said.
“The ministry is reviewing each June 2019 exam result to ensure student grades are accurately reflected on their transcripts.”
Yesterday evening, the Times Colonist reported that some students who had 90-plus per cent averages going into the exams found results with percentages in the 20s.
