New West Flea Market postponed due to rain.

If you were hoping to go bargain hunting at the New West flea market this Sunday, we have bad news.

The New West flea market, which was to be hosted by the local brewers on the block, Another Beer Company, is postponed until further notice due to the forecast of heavy rain.

Alex Jopson, the owner of Another Beer Co., was hoping to bring a one-of-a-kind spring cleaning sale to the neighbourhood this weekend, but the hunt for great deals from your local vendors are to wait while Jopson searches for alternative dates and venues.

The flea market idea was born out of Jopson mulling over the idea of a garage sale for residents living in condos — giving those residents an opportunity to have a garage sale of their own like those with detached homes.

With the abundance of local craftspeople and artisans in the community, Jopson realized the community of New West could benefit from a flea market. So he partnered with his realty partner, Elio Parente, and his realty company, City to Suburb Real Estate Group, to host the market.

From tools, art, clothing and household goods to locally salvaged wood for your next custom table to vinyl records, antiques and unique creations from local artisans like Decadent Decay, Seen Signs, Canawrap, New West Skate and more — this market, when it comes back, will have it all.

While the new vendor list is still up in the air, New West’s favourite mobile café, Little Miss Coffee Company, along with Vancouver favourite The Jerk Shack, were to make an appearance.

The Record will provide updates of the new dates and details of the flea market when it becomes available.
