The New Westminster school board has a new leader.
Trustee Mark Gifford was named chair of the school board at its final meeting of the year Tuesday night.
Outgoing chair Kelly Slade-Kerr nominated Gifford for the position. There were no other nominations.
Slade-Kerr, meanwhile, was nominated for the position of vice-chair, a position she held until she was elected chair last December.
Slade-Kerr was also acclaimed as vice-chair.
Both Gifford and Slade-Kerr are currently serving their first term as trustees. The two were elected to the board of education in the 2014 civic election.
