Fraser River Discovery Centre is bringing back its Summer Discovery Days series – starting this weekend.

To once again help celebrate long weekends, FRDC is bringing back its Summer Discovery Days series starting on the Canada Day long weekend.

“Long weekends in the summer months are extra special, and we wanted to help people celebrate them,” said Stephen Bruyneel, the centre’s director of external relations and development. “Our Summer Discovery Days Discoveries will help, starting July long weekend with a focus on Canadian wildlife.”

At this weekend’s event, guests will be able to celebrate the various animals living in the Fraser River watershed through facts, interactive games and crafts. Visitors can learn about local ecosystems through the jumbo summer ecology board game and real animal artifacts and they can create a personal puppet show using simple craft techniques and materials.

This weekend’s Summer Discovery Days takes place from Friday, July 1 to Sunday, July 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. While COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place (masks are required for anyone over the age of five), Summer Discovery Days is a drop-in event, and there’s no longer a need to pre-register.

Summer Discovery Days – which includes admission to Discovery Centre – is $15 for a family (two adults and up to three children), $6 for an adult aged 19 and older, $5 for seniors aged 65 and older, $5 for students (student ID is required), $3 for children aged three to 12 and free for children two and under.
