New Westminster resident Glady Parrenas is planning a family trip to Japan as B.C.'s latest millionaire. She won the May 11, 2024, jackpot from Lotto 6/49.

Glady Parrenas has big plans after becoming B.C.'s latest millionaire — starting with an early retirement "without hesitation."

The New Westminster resident claimed the $1 million White Ball jackpot from Lotto 6/49's draw on May 11.

She bought her ticket at a lottery kiosk at Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby, correctly matching the secondary prize number: 05516473-02.

Parrenas said she wanted to buy a lottery ticket during Mother's Day weekend as she had hoped to take her family to Japan. That trip is officially in the works.

"I thought it couldn’t be real," she explained in a BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) release.

"I checked multiple tickets and checked [the winning ticket] throughout the day to confirm."

Parrenas said, as well as Japan and paying off her mortgage, she also wants use the money to take her family on a cruise.

She first shared the news of her big payday with her father. "He said, 'Good for you!'"

Meanwhile, no one claimed the $46-million Gold Ball prize from the May 11 draw, according to PlayNow.com's website.

Someone in Atlantic Canada, however, took home the Lotto 6/49 classic jackpot of $5 million.

To date, more than $48 million have been claimed by B.C. Lotto 6/49 players in 2024.
