If noise from the Pattullo Bridge replacement project seems louder over the next few days, this is why.

Beginning today, April 5, Fraser Crossing Partners will be conducting a continuous 36-hour concrete pour to complete the pile cap for the main tower foundation.

Concrete trucks will be accessing the foundation throughout the duration of the pour using the temporary access platform from the Surrey work yard and barges on the river, said a news release.

“It is important for the pour to be continuous to ensure structural integrity,” said the release. “Residents and businesses may hear noise from concrete trucks and heavy equipment while work is underway. Once the concrete pour is complete and the concrete has cured, crews will begin work on the formwork and concrete pours for the tower.”

Work on the replacement for the Pattullo Bridge between New Westminster and Surrey means more traffic disruptions during the next few weeks.

Construction for the bridge foundations and approach structures in Surrey is underway and will continue through 2022.

Fraser Crossing Partners is conducting intermittent pile driving for the bridge foundation adjacent to 112 Avenue. A northbound slow-lane closure will be required on the Pattullo Bridge approach while piling is underway due to the proximity of the foundation to the existing bridge and roadway.

To minimize traffic impacts, says a news release, this piling work and the associated northbound lane reduction is taking place on weekends for approximately five more weeks

The lane closure will be implemented on Saturdays between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m., and Sundays between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. when required.

The lane closure may also take place on occasional weeknights between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Lane closures will only be in effect during active piling work at the location closest to the roadway.

A northbound slow lane closure will also be required once work begins on the foundation for the new Highway 17 off-ramp. More information will be provided in advance of the start of this work.
