Scott Iverson reads at Poetry in the Park in 2021, when the series temporarily moved to the grounds of Massey Theatre. The final event of 2022 is on Aug. 31 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Queen's Park.

Tonight’s the night of the grand finale of Poetry in the Park of 2022.

The finale Poetry in the Park of 2022 is on Wednesday, Aug. 31 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the bandshell in Queen’s Park.

Presented by the Royal City Literary Arts Society, in partnership with the Arts Council of New Westminster and the City of New Westminster, the series kicked off on July 6. With each session showcasing two poets (plus an open mic), a variety of poets have been featured at this summer’s events.

Tonight’s event features poets Jónína Kirton and Cecily Nicholson. Alan Hill will host the evening’s open mic segment.

Community members can bring a folding chair if they like, or take a seat in the backless bench seating that’s provided.

A free raffle for books is also part of tonight’s family-friendly event.
