New Westminster's love of beer, good times and life by the water will be on display this weekend
Brewhalla is set to make its first-ever stop in the city on Saturday, Aug. 10, bringing its festival to Queen's Park and featuring dozens of craft beverage options for patrons of legal drinking age.
And organizers are hoping those in attendance can have some fun by dressing up in costumes or outfits they believe expresses "life on the river," which is the theme of the six-hour event.
Red Door Events spokesperson Hannah Cratty, in a news release, explained this could be a pirate, mermaid, fisher, kayaker, salmon or boater.
Festival goers will even be able to test their skills on an interactive surfboard ride, or challenge a friend at the water gun shoot out.
A total of 24 B.C. breweries and distilleries will set up shop inside Brewhalla, including three from New Westminster — Another Beer Co., Steel & Oak Brewing Co. and Heartberry Soda. Live musical acts and food vendors will also be on site.
In April, when New West was unveiled as a host city, Red Door Events changed the event's title of "craft beer festival" to "craft beverage festival," inviting cideries, wineries and non-alcoholic bars to participate.
Cratty added it's important to have all patrons take part in the 19+ festival, including the sober and "sober curious."
Brewhalla New Westminster takes place Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. For more information, you can visit the festival's website.
If you're taking SkyTrain to get to Queen's Park, complimentary rides back to the station will be available for all guests couresy of Key West Ford.
New Westminster is the fourth stop on Brewhalla's 2024 tour with Whistler and Chilliwack as the fourth and final cities on Sept. 14 and Oct. 5.
