Electrical rates jump on April 1

New Westminster city council has approved a 3.91 per cent increase to electrical utility rates effective April 1. A staff report states that the rates reflect the 3.91 per cent increase that the city will pay to purchase electricity from B.C. Hydro.

"The city's past practice has been to maintain electrical rates similar to those set by B.C. Hydro for its residential and general service rate customers," stated the report.
