Everyone loves a leisurely evening cruise down the pedestrian boardwalk. But if you're doing it in your Audi, police would like a word with you.
New Westminster Police responded to several calls around 9: 30 p.m. Monday reporting someone driving on the Westminster Quay boardwalk, according to a press release from Sgt. Gary Weishaar. Officers attended the scene and spotted a grey Audi leaving the boardwalk and entering the roadway. They arrested the driver without incident.
Police have now charged the driver, a 29-year-old Vancouver man, with impaired driving and are continuing to investigate possible charges of dangerous opera-tion of a vehicle.
The accused has been released on promise to appear in court, and police have seized the 2000 Audi for 30 days' impoundment.
Police say although numerous pedestrians were on the boardwalk at the time, no one was injured.
