Driver leaves scene after striking cyclist in the 'Boro

The New Westminster Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed a hit and run on March 8 in Queensborough to contact the department.

At about 6 p.m. on Friday, March 8, a cyclist was in the crosswalk at Boyd and Wood streets when he was hit by a vehicle, which fled the scene.

The car is described as a dark, older model Mercedes Benz.

The cyclist was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital where he was treated for several broken bones, including bro-ken ribs.

Police are asking any witnesses or anyone who may have helped the victim after the accident to contact Const. Justine Thom at 604-525-5411.
